Summer 2011-
Maybe next time
After a lot of honest intentions, hard work and time it turns out that the REAL Prep Charter Academy (formerly known as High School for Recording Arts Portland) will not be opening it's doors as planned after all. Oh well, the beat goes on...If you're interested in finding some local organizations that provide music programs for youth you can check out the links below.

Summer 2009-
The High School for Recording Arts Portland
Alright. Action required now! Mic Crenshaw and Chris Allen are working day and night on one of the most important music projects this city has seen in a long time. A charter high school with a focus on preparing kids for success in the recording industry. It's free and open to the public. For info on how you can help please go to www.hsrap.org or www.myspace.com/hsrapdx. You can also contact Mic directly at outreach@hsrap.org. We need to get enough community support by JULY 15TH in order to be able to open the doors in fall of 2010. You can learn more about the HSRA movement by visiting www.hsra.org.

Winter 2008/9-
Collab with the Hungry Mob Band
We're currently looking to connect with other vocalists and musicians for collab projects both live and in the studio. If you saw the Roots backing the various performers in Dave Chapelle's movie 'Block Party', you have a good idea of what we're talking about. Soul singers, spoken word artists and musicians who can solo are at the top of the wanted list. Hungry Mob focuses on hip-hop as a central element while mixing in a bunch of other influences. If you're interested contact Chris at info@hungrymob.com.

Fall 2008-
Mic Crenshaw Solo Release Nov. 18th
The solo release CD entitled "thinking Out Loud" by Mic Crenshaw will be hittin' the streets on Nov. 18th. No need to wait til then though...On Saturday, November 15th you're invited to come on over to the Blue Monk on Belmont for the CD Release Party featuring live performances by Mic Crenshaw feat. DJ Gen.Erik, Hungry Mob feat. Rasheeda Ameera, X Vandals (w/ members of Ricanstruction and Public Enemy), Good Sista/Bad Sista, DJ Deena B from KBOO Radio and live painting by MO. Come get a copy and support your local revolutionary/evolutionary artists with a message. Oh, and please don't hold your breath for some real change just because they let a black man into the White House. He'll either uphold the existing agenda of war, deception and unequal distribution of resources as dictated to him by the corporatocracy or he'll get removed. The sooner the people realize this the more effectively we'll be able to create some real change.

Rember the words of Mr. Marley.
"Never trust a politician to grant you a favor. They will forever try to control you."

Power to the people!

Summer 2008-
The Banana Stand
Recording, recording and more recording.

Spring 2008-
The Banana Stand
If you get a chance to check out a show at the Banana Stand then do it. These cats are doing something unique and much needed in a music scene suffering from too much of the same old. Most of the players in this industry seem to be driving into the future while using only the rear view mirror and the guys at the Banana Stand are doing their part to change that.

Deep Soul Summit
Thanks to everyone who came out to hold it down at the Deep Soul Summit 2008. We look forward to rockin' more shows at the Fez in the future. Excellent Gentlemen always comes through to do the musical do while keeping things snappin' to grid on the business tip and Triple Grip got the party started along with DJ Sir Round. Our next show is going to be at the Banana Stand on Saturday, April 5th. More details to follow.

Don't forget to take a little time to ditch the cells, TVs, video games and DVDs to read...especailly between the lines.

Winter 2007-8

A New Day
Happy 2008 to one and all! We look forward to another year of chantin' down the wicked ones and inspirin' the People to get up. The "Forecast" EP from 1999 has recently been added to the iTunes library. You can check it out here. Our next live show will be at the Fez on March 15th . Be upfull!

Mothers, babies, dreads, teens, breakers, anarchists, the differently abled, hipsters, hippies, hip-hoppers...it was a sight to see all those people coming together under the same roof.
